09 Dec 2009

Nuffic Neso Indonesia recently organized the 10th edition of the Holland Education Fair (HEF) in the cities of Yogyakarta, Bandung, Jakarta and Makassar, from 9-17 November 2009.

The event was very successful and attracted more than 5,000 visitors, exceeding the targeted number of visitors by 20%.

Makassar

For the first time ever the Holland Education Fair was also held outside Java in the city of Makassar, located in the south of Sulawesi. Makassar is a growing economic and educational hub for the eastern part of Indonesia. The visitors in Makassar were very enthusiastic and both the numbers and quality of the visitors were very encouraging.

Detailed information

The event provided the opportunity for Indonesian prospective students to receive detailed information on the international study programs in the Netherlands and to directly consult with the representatives of the 22 participating Dutch higher education institutions. Apart from joining the HEF 2009, some of the participating institutions also visited Indonesian higher education institutions to give an update on existing cooperation projects or developments in their respective institution, or to seek opportunities for new cooperation.

Nuffic Neso Indonesia’s role

In conjunction with the HEF 2009, Nuffic Neso Indonesia also supported the Dutch institutions in organizing info sessions for Indonesian students at Indonesian institutions or at the premises of Nuffic Neso Indonesia office. Also, together with the Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta, a well attended welcome reception for the HEF participants and their alumni was held prior to the fair in Jakarta.

During this year’s HEF in several presentation sessions information on scholarship programs such as the ‘DIKTI’ scholarships from the Indonesian Ministry of National Education, Erasmus Mundus and Dutch scholarship programs was provided.
